Business has gone to the TRIBES!
By Hazel on Mar 1, 2009 in The Great Business Digital Divide
Yes…it’s true. Understanding what I call “Tribeonomics” is critical to business growth and innovation today. I realize many in business today have no clue what I’m referring to so let me expand on this point.
Dictionary.com describes a tribe as any aggregate of people united by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions, adherence to the same leaders, etc. A class or set of persons, esp. one with strong common traits or interests.
In today’s digital society…tribes or clans or peeps, etc. are forming associations based on similar interests, views, experiences, likes, dislikes, dreams, values and wants. This is one reason social networks are so attractive. You can find people “like YOU” all over the world! How cool is that?
What does this mean to those of us in business? Well…it means we better start learning the new models for marketing such as social marketing and shake loose the old models of doing business. I realize this can seems a bit scary or uncomfortable to venture down this new dimension of doing business but the harsh truth is if you don’t, you will become irrelevant and most likely your competitors will do it.
But take heart. These are some of the things I will coach in my blog so you can become ‘Tribe-savvy’. Deal?
